About the Board
The board of directors is a combination of men and women passionate about the work of the John Rudy Health Resource Centre Association and who have varied work histories in the health care field. The directors are very qualified to be guiding and developing the programs that will be delivered, and supporting the future staff of the association. The combined years of experience exceeds 77 years in the health care field including working with physical, cognitive and mental health issues! Please read about each of the directors and their backgrounds in health care.
TRACEY HAMILTON has seen many clients over the years who needed assistance and support with health related issues and questions. She has 33 years of experience in the health field; including 8 years as a medical office assitant, 6 years as an instructor for the medical office assistant courses, 8 years as a theraputic riding instructor, 8 years assisting persons with disabilities or low literacy and English as a second language find employment, and for the past 3 years she is self employed as a Registered Massage Therapist.
CRYSTAL LEESE has worked directly with people with a variety of intellectual and physical disabilities for over 7 years. She has supported them with daily living activies, decision making and finances along with managing support staff. She is enthusiastic about providing support to anyone dealing with health issues.
LAURIE DENTON has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years. She has used her training to pursue her passion and has worked in the community as a service coordinator, nursing consultant and manager, instructor for the Human Service Worker program, community support director, and a director of program delivery for Aquired Brain Injury. Prior to obtaining her degree she worked for 4 years with persons with intellectual disabilities in a workshop setting for a total of over 27 years in the health field.
KIM BAILEY has personal and professional experience supporting people with physical, emotional and cognitive disabilities. She worked for 10 years in child and youth care in programming and for 2 years shehas been a tutor in adult basic education. This work experience combines with her personal experiences for a total of over 20 years in the health field.
CRYSTAL WILLIAMS has been a registered social worker for 10 years. She has extensive experience supporting individuals with disabilities in the community. She is committed to strengthening relationships between service providers. Her vast knowledge of services and the needs of the community are a huge asset to association.
Meet Our Executive Director
Chantelle Fairbrother is the founder of the John Rudy Health Resource Centre Association. She resigned as a board member in January 2018 and was hired part time as the Executive Director in April 2018. She was inspired to start a health resource centre after seeing a need for a service to help people find and understand health services and health information. Chantelle has worked in the social service/health field for over 27 years; including 3 years as anadult literacy tutor, 2 years as a Special Olympics coach, 4 years as a tutor for university students with disabilities, 14 years as an education and career counsellor for persons with disabilities and chronic health issues and 5 years as a branch coordinator for the Stroke Recovery Association of BC.
