Who and What is the John Rudy Health Resource Centre Association?

The John Rudy Health Resource Association is an innovative non-profit registered charity in Vernon B.C.  Our mission is to improve the health and well being of all persons in the community by addressing health literacy needs.  We strive to empower people to take an active and informed role in their and their family's health - by supporting them to obtain, understand and utilize health services and information.

We want people to know that they are not alone in their health crisis or experiences of living with a chronic condition. There is real power in meeting with someone in person and we have seen the positive impact our services have on the lives of community members. 

We are very committed to helping out the caregivers in our community. We help support them in their desire to be the best they can be with the motto of "You are Heard, You are Seen and Your Needs Matter". Here is some of our caregivers speaking about their experiences.

Our Work

                      One-to-one in-person services are always free and include:

• Assisting people to find, read and understand health information for themselves and their family members.

• Supporting people in navigating the health care system and tributaries specific to their needs.

• Helping people find the correct health forms and assisting with completion on paper or online.

Health literacy presentations bring useful tools to the community via short presentations:

• Always free! 
  Presentations provide useful tips and strategies.
  For example, how to make the most of one's doctors appointments
  and a take-away brochure that covers all of the information and
  can be shared with friends and family.
